Shop Till You
Drop!
Shopping
is a prime sport in the Rancho Bernardo area and residents never run out of
places to spend money.
Along Carmel Mountain Road, are hundreds of shops, restaurants, and services. And you don’t even have to get on the freeway. Here you will find Mervyns, Sears, Ross Dress For Less, Marshall’s, Home Depot, Sports Authority, Circuit City, Staples, Petco, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Linens ‘N Things, and many smaller shops. There is just about everything here except a major department store.
And for major department stores, just drive one exit north up I-15 from Rancho Bernardo to Westfield Shopping Town North County. This is the largest indoor shopping mall in San Diego County. It features Nordstrom, Macys, Robinson-May, Penney’s, Sears, and 200 other stores.
Rancho
Bernardo’s Towne Center has lots of shops and services. Some of the unique
spots here are Unicorn Jewelry, which designs and builds beautiful custom jewelry;
and Draper & Damon’s, purveyors of the finest in women’s apparel.
The Bernardo Winery, located in the Oaks North area of Rancho Bernardo, is an operating winery complete with tasting room. There are also unique shops and a restaurant here. Plus they host huge art and crafts fairs twice a year. In addition, they have a Farmer's Market here every Friday 9 am to noon. To visit the Bernardo Winery on-line, go to Bernardo Winery Web Page.
In Poway, there is great shopping too. At Steinmart, first quality men’s
and women’s apparel plus household goods is always at a discount. Mary’s
Secret Garden, a terrific little gift shop, specializes in accessories for patios,
lawns, and gardens. And Poway is home to Wal-Mart and Target. Old Poway, on Midland Road, has an open-air market every Saturday morning,
where fruit, vegetables, and flowers are sold.
